Rug Care

Every Loom rug is unique and made up of different yarn, we recommend that you contact Loom or your local professional handmade rug washer for advice before cleaning. For stains and spills, remove liquids immediately to minimise absorption into fibres.

Rugs require regular vacuuming to remove loose dirt and wool. It is important that you do not use a vacuum on the rug that has a head with rotating/spinning parts (e.g. Dyson) as this may cause pilling within the rug and pull loose fibres.
We recommend using a normal vacuum on low pressure and always testing a small patch first before vacuuming the entire rug.

Clip loose ends with scissors to remove and prevent pulling.

Piling may occur due to foot traffic, furniture, vacuuming and other agitation.

To remove pilling carefully trim with scissors back to the rugs natural height.

It is totally natural and expected for new rugs to shed fluff as a result of loose fibres and is the sign of a handmade rug. This amount may reduce overtime and can be easily reduced by using a light vacuum with a non-moving parts head every so often.

Rotate regularly to equalise wear.

All rugs, regardless of their material composition and technique will fade when exposed to direct sunlight.

This is due to the nature of the natural dyes.

If spillage occurs it is crucial to act quickly to absorb a much of the stain as possible with cold tap water and a white cotton towel.

If the stain is serious or stubborn please contact us immediately to organise for the rug to be attended to by a handmade rug-washing specialist.

At any point in time you can have your rug professionally washed by a handmade rug-washing specialists to rejuvenate the colour and give it a fresh feel.

We recommend contacting us as we can supply you with the rug-washing specialists contact details.
